SCA Scaffolding working on Portland Academy Project

SCA’s Commercial Scaffolding team are providing the specialist access and containment systems for the brand new Portland Academy in Dorset.

The Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) has contracted Wates Construction to complete a £24m building project for a new campus based at Maritime House, and the SCA Group will be on hand to provide the access scaffolding.

Set to open in September 2016, this ambitious project initially struggled to achieve the necessary planning and investment which set the project back a whole year, but now firmly back on track, the 58 week project is well underway. The end result will be a world class educational facility delivering better learning, improved attainment and higher achievement for students, as well as opening up new resources for the wider community.

The new, purpose-built campuses at Maritime House and Osprey Quay will ultimately replace the existing schools and colleges spread across the area, bringing all the centres of education together into a single site, and adding in a Sixth Form centre, performing arts theatre, heated swimming pool and sports hall. The brand new complex will cater for 3 to 19 year olds and build upon an already impressive reputation established in Environmental Sciences and Sports Studies.

SCA’s skilled scaffold management team will work closely with the main contractor and ensure that all scaffold activities are co-ordinated with the many other trades on site, bringing the project home under budget and within the expected timescales, and we, like the people of Portland, are extremely excited to see the final result!
